Colin Hoult: Colin Review

Updated: Aug 22

Comedy this fringe doesn’t come any better than this fast-paced and laugh-a-minute hour by Colin Hoult. He covers everything about his family, growing up and being married into a richer household, as well as exploring his love for Elvis, and one particular night which involved an Ouija Board and a Gorilla.

Colin Hoult is so at home on stage that the first part of the show is spent chatting to the audience and exploring some of their lives. He noted his Neurodiverse experiences noting he is easily distracted and shows this by going from person to person, and topic to topic at a quick pace. As the show then kicks off, you are introduced to the mixture of characters that make up Colin’s life. What becomes a witty commentary on the funny things family members say, like one of his family noting how amazed they were about the portion sizes at Wetherspoons and the plate being stacked.

Colin's ability to make you feel like you are in a small room with him sharing his stories is very impressive and you can see that he has put in a ton of work to polish the show and ensure the fast-paced nature of the show remains consistent.

He also jokes throughout about getting to the part with the Ouija Board and the gorilla, and later in the set when that moment comes, it’s worth the wait and helps tie up the show as by that stage, you are aware of the different characters in Colin’s life and how they deal the situation through Colin’s detailed storytelling that proceeds this.

Ultimately, Colin Hoult: Colin is a very impressive hour of comedy and Colin’s relatable and funny nature makes this a real comic triumph.
